A leading global law firm is seeking a Public Finance Associate or Counsel (2–5 years’ experience) to join its growing public finance practice. The role offers meaningful responsibility advising public sector entities and market participants on complex financing transactions that support critical infrastructure, housing, and community development initiatives.
The Opportunity
You will work closely with experienced attorneys on a broad range of municipal finance matters involving governmental issuers, public authorities, and institutional stakeholders. The practice regularly advises cities, counties, housing authorities, and special-purpose districts on financing strategies and debt issuances.
Associates and counsel in the group gain early exposure to transaction leadership, client interaction, and strategic structuring of public finance transactions.
Key Responsibilities

Advise on municipal bond financings and public sector debt transactions

Assist governmental entities including cities, counties, housing authorities, and special-purpose districts with financing initiatives

Structure and support tax-exempt and taxable bond issuances

Draft and review transaction documentation including bond documents, financing agreements, and disclosure materials

Provide guidance on municipal law, regulatory considerations, and tax-related aspects of public finance transactions

Collaborate with clients, financial advisors, underwriters, and other transaction participants throughout the financing process

Support complex public finance projects tied to infrastructure, development, and community initiatives
Ideal Candidate Profile

2–5 years of transactional experience, preferably in public finance or municipal finance
-
JD required and prior experience working in a law firm

Experience advising governmental entities or public authorities on financing transactions is strongly preferred

Familiarity with municipal finance regulations, tax considerations, and bond structures
-
Strong drafting and communication skills with the ability to work effectively in collaborative deal teams

Active Texas Bar membership or eligibility to become licensed in Texas
