Location: Detroit, MI
A well-established law firm is seeking an experienced Estate Planning Attorney to join its Trusts & Estates practice in Detroit. This role focuses on advising high-net-worth individuals and families on complex estate, tax and succession planning matters within a collaborative and client-focused environment.
The position offers the opportunity to handle sophisticated planning work while also supporting business succession strategies and estate administration matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise clients on estate, gift, GST and income tax planning strategies
- Draft estate planning documents including wills, trusts, powers of attorney and healthcare directives
- Structure irrevocable trusts and business succession plans
- Counsel high-net-worth individuals and families on wealth transfer strategies
- Assist with estate and trust administration, including probate proceedings
- Prepare and review estate, fiduciary income and gift tax returns
- Maintain and develop client relationships and support business development initiatives
Who You Are:
- Significant experience in complex estate planning and succession matters
- Strong knowledge of estate, gift and income tax principles
- Experience advising high-net-worth individuals and families
- Excellent drafting, analytical and communication skills
- Ability to manage matters independently and handle client relationships
- Strong organisational and project management skills
- Portable book of business is preferred but not required
- Admitted to the Michigan Bar or eligible for admission
