Employment Litigation Associate
Location: Portland, OR (Seattle considered)
A respected regional firm is seeking an experienced associate to join its Employment practice. The team advises employers across a wide range of industries, handling complex employment disputes, agency investigations, and workplace compliance matters. This role offers the opportunity to work with a collaborative group of lawyers, develop deep subject-matter expertise, and contribute to the growth of a well-regarded employment practice.
Key Responsibilities:

Advise employers on federal and state employment laws and regulatory compliance.

Manage BOLI and EEOC charges, investigations, and related responses with limited supervision.

Draft motions, manage discovery, take depositions, and support hearings or oral arguments.

Review and develop employee handbooks, policies, and compliance materials.

Collaborate with partners and help train junior associates within the practice.

Work with clients in key industry sectors including technology, healthcare, natural resources, and manufacturing.
Who You Are:

4+ years of employment law experience with solid knowledge of federal and state regulations.

Strong writing, analytical, and research skills, supported by an employment-related writing sample.

Litigation experience, ideally as second chair, with exposure to motion practice, depositions, and argument.

Excellent communication skills, strong work ethic, and client-focused approach.

Admission to the Oregon or Washington Bar, with preference for candidates eligible in both jurisdictions.

Interest in labour law or Schwabe’s sector-focused work is an advantage.
Compensation:
Salary Range: $165,000 – $200,000 DOE
