A well-established law firm is seeking an Associate to join its Estate & Succession Planning practice in Detroit. This role offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated estate planning, tax and business succession matters for mid to high net worth individuals and families.
Associates will gain exposure to both planning and administration work within a client-focused and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise clients on estate planning, succession planning and tax matters
- Draft estate planning documents including wills, trusts, powers of attorney and healthcare directives
- Provide guidance on estate, gift, GST and income tax planning
- Support business succession planning strategies
- Handle estate administration matters, including probate and fiduciary filings
- Counsel fiduciaries on trust and estate settlement and administration
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
Who You Are:
- Experience in estate planning, estate and gift tax, and succession planning
- Strong academic credentials
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong organisational and project management abilities
- Ability to work independently and manage client relationships
- Sound judgment and attention to detail
- Admitted to the Michigan Bar or eligible for admission
