A nationally respected transactional practice is seeking a mid-level associate (4–8 years’ experience) to join its Real Estate Finance group. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-value commercial real estate financings within a collaborative team that represents a broad mix of lenders, investors, and real estate sponsors.

The practice focuses on sophisticated middle-market transactions and provides associates with meaningful responsibility, including the opportunity to take the lead on deals while working closely with experienced partners and a strong support team.

The Opportunity

You will advise lenders, investors, and borrowers on a wide range of real estate finance matters across the commercial property sector. The team regularly handles complex capital structures and multi-party financings involving institutional investors, private debt funds, banks, developers, and other participants in the real estate investment market.

Associates in this group gain exposure to a steady pipeline of sophisticated transactions and are encouraged to develop leadership skills by managing deal execution and maintaining direct client contact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Structure and negotiate senior mortgage financings for commercial real estate assets

  • Advise on construction loans and development financing across a range of property types

  • Work on leveraged real estate financings involving multiple lenders and layered capital structures

  • Handle mezzanine financings and preferred debt or equity investments

  • Assist with A-note, B-note, and co-lender transactions involving institutional capital providers

  • Draft and negotiate core transaction documents including loan agreements, security documents, intercreditor arrangements, and related financing instruments

  • Coordinate deal execution and work closely with clients, opposing counsel, and internal teams through closing

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • 4–8 years of experience handling commercial real estate finance transactions in a sophisticated law firm environment

  • JD required and prior experience working in a law firm

  • Strong background in lender-side or borrower-side commercial real estate finance

  • Experience with mortgage loans, construction financing, mezzanine structures, and multi-lender transactions

  • Excellent drafting ability, attention to detail, and strong commercial awareness

  • Ability to manage components of complex transactions and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues

  • Motivated, collaborative, and capable of running deals with appropriate partner guidance
