A nationally recognised tax practice at a leading international law firm is seeking a State & Local Tax (SALT) Associate to join its growing team. This role offers exposure to sophisticated, multi-state tax matters across a wide range of industries, working closely with partners and senior attorneys on complex advisory, controversy, and transactional work.
This is an excellent opportunity for a SALT associate looking to deepen their technical expertise while operating within a highly collaborative, cross-office platform.
Key Responsibilities:

Advise clients on a broad range of state and local tax matters, including:

Corporate income and franchise tax

Sales and use tax
-
Property tax
-
Payroll and withholding tax
-
Personal income tax
-

Support tax controversy matters, including audits, administrative disputes, and litigation support.

Assist with SALT planning, restructuring, and transactional analysis.

Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, client advice, and technical submissions.

Collaborate across offices on multi-jurisdictional tax projects and strategic client initiatives.
Who You Are:

Approximately 3–5 years of dedicated State & Local Tax experience.

Strong grounding in corporate income/franchise tax and sales and use tax matters.

Exposure to SALT controversy or litigation is advantageous.

Experience with tax planning or restructuring matters preferred.

Excellent research, drafting, organisational, and communication skills.

Comfortable managing complex, multi-state workstreams in a collaborative environment.

Admitted to practice in the state in which you are based.
Compensation:
-
Salary Range: $260,000 – $365,000 DOE (location dependent)
