A nationally respected law firm is seeking a mid-level Mergers & Acquisitions Associate to join its growing corporate practice in Kansas City. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney who wants meaningful responsibility, hands-on deal exposure, and the chance to contribute to a dynamic, team-oriented transactional practice with a strong middle-market focus.

The Role

You will work closely with partners and clients on sophisticated M&A and corporate transactions from start to finish. The position offers direct involvement in deal strategy, drafting, negotiation, and client counseling across a wide range of industries and transaction types, including private equity–backed matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and negotiate definitive and ancillary transaction documents for M&A and joint ventures

  • Manage and coordinate due diligence processes

  • Advise private companies, investors, and portfolio companies on complex corporate matters

  • Support private equity–sponsored transactions, particularly in the middle market

  • Counsel clients on financings, entity formation, governance, and commercial agreements

  • Handle multiple matters efficiently while taking on increasing responsibility and client contact

Candidate Profile

  • Juris Doctor (JD) required

  • 3–6 years of transactional experience gained at a law firm

  • Strong background in mergers and acquisitions and complex corporate transactions

  • Experience with private equity–backed deals strongly preferred

  • Excellent drafting, communication, and analytical skills

  • Admitted (or eligible for admission) in the relevant U.S. jurisdiction
